I decided to get down to the printing lab a couple of days ago to print the latest batch of portraits that have been taken over the past weeks. It’s always an exciting moment when a photographer is able to see their work appear on an actual print, and it is an occasion that excites me every time. The preferred print format I choose is the Digital C-Type print using Fuji Crystal Archive gloss paper. A classic paper choice.
The printing process is based on traditional methods, using chemicals, but what is different about the digital C-Type compared to the traditional method in the darkroom, is that the digital method uses a laser to produce the image. The detail is something that Inkjet printing can’t come close to, and this format lends itself really well to the style of work I produce.
